Graphic design for the book Construire sans se trahir – Call to professionalize experiments in architecture.
Deserting and fighting predatory neoliberal logics in architecture is possible, but how do we ensure that these more experimental practices ensure our daily subsistence? How to earn a living while responding to the climate and social issues that are now taught in architecture schools? Can they professionalize in professions other than project management? How can we provide concrete tools to help young graduates shake up order frameworks and reinvigorate public utility? The desire is there, even burning, there is no shortage of theoretical injunctions and inspirations, but above all we need today pragmatism to associate with our militant joy.
This publication retraces the discussions of a series of meetings organized between 2023 and 2024, as part of the Architecture School of Commons action research program initiated and coordinated by the Collectif Etc. For three years, we took the time to talk and listen to experimental professionals as well as French, Italian and Greek students, around the desire to change the ways of doing the architectural project, its learning, and the anxiety of an uncertain professional future.
